When there’s a new trending non-invasive procedure — whether it’s on fat reduction, cellulite treatment, weight loss, or anti-aging — the first question that comes to your mind is, Does it work?
This same question has dogged CoolSculpting since it burst onto the scene. Anyone who’s ever searched for CoolSculpting online has asked that question. After all, if you’re spending money on it, it better produce the results promised.
Well, answer it then: Does CoolSculpting really work?
The short, honest answer is YES. Of course, nobody in their right mind would immediately schedule an appointment based on that one-word answer alone. Think about this, though: Over 2 million CoolSculpting procedures have been performed worldwide. That staggering number is already a testament to the treatment’s efficacy.
We can imagine the dissatisfied expression on your face: Really, that’s all you’re giving me? No, that’s not all we’re giving you. We know you want more facts and are happy you’re starting your journey with research, so we’ll help you out with these tidbits of important information.
CoolSculpting has received FDA clearance
Getting the stamp of approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is no easy task. It’s a highly rigorous process that required Zeltiq, the company behind the CoolSculpting brand, to conduct numerous clinical trials to prove that the procedure really works. These clinical trials involved more than 4,000 patients. Medical studies have also been published underscoring CoolSculpting’s efficacy, including:
- A Prospective Clinical Study of Noninvasive Cryolipolysis for Subcutaneous Fat Layer Reduction
- Safety, tolerance, and patient satisfaction with noninvasive cryolipolysis
- Cryolipolysis for reduction of excess adipose tissue
Note: Cryolipolysis® is the proven science CoolSculpting is based on.
Stop looking for immediate results, focus instead on cumulative fat loss
Sadly, there are individuals who undergo CoolSculpting expecting immediate results. Let us stop you right there: Please don’t think you’ll have the body of a runway model immediately after your treatment. In fact, don’t expect to see noticeable results until after several weeks. As a side note, this is why at Renew MD we always have the consultation first; it helps in setting realistic goals and managing expectations.
CoolSculpting destroys fat cells by freezing them. When these fat cells die, they will be removed from your body as waste. Here’s the thing, though: It takes the human body months to flush out these dead fat cells through its lymphatic system. Most of our patients start seeing results within 8 weeks following treatment.
If you’ve had CoolSculpting recently and not seen any improvement, please be patient. Results will come gradually.
CoolSculpting reduces fat permanently, but…
As mentioned earlier, CoolSculpting destroys fat cells. Since the fat cells in the targeted area are already dead, it can’t expand anymore, so the results are permanent. CoolSculpting, however, removes 20% to 25% of the fat cells in the targeted area. While the treated cells in the targeted area will never grow back, there’s still 75% of fat cells that remain. This is why we advise all our patients to have a healthy diet and to exercise regularly to maintain beautiful results. You have to change your eating habits for the better and get more active, otherwise your body isn’t really going to change.
